Kimmy and Matt** are a couple living and working in the entertainment industry in LA. They were interested in something related to their lifestyle, and since Kimmy is part of the 1940s inspired comedy group The Apple Sisters, it was only natural that they wanted something retro-inspired. After a fun skype meeting, Nicole and this dynamic duo decided that a 1940s/50s movie-poster-inspired invitation was the way to go. The project was spurred along by some great retro-poster finds, as well as the couple’s fun, overly dramatic photos which Nicole asked them to take of themselves. The art came naturally after that — first Nicole’s trademark sketch in blue, followed by the digital painting, and finally the poster itself (copy written by Kimmy and Matt themselves). The final poster was sent out in a mailing tube to the guests, all of whom reportedly still keep the piece hung somewhere in their homes.
** Kimmy and Nicole have known each other since their freshman year at Syracuse University. And yes, that is Matt’s real mustache.
